
The first hard-drive vendor to reach the 1 TB milestone, Hitachi says that it feels positive about being able to supply commercially-available hard-disk drives (HDD) with 5 TB capacities by 2010. The new drives would be able to increase density of information stored on a standard platter using the current perpendicular-to-the-plane giant magnetoresistance (CPP-GMR) technique.
