Intel plans to update its Nehalem family in Q3 2009 and at that time, it plans to bring the new multi threaded quad core in the block. Bloomfield remains dominant on high performance roadmap and Intel's new quad core, again based on the Nehalem architecture is called Lynnfield.
This is again a quad core CPU with support for eight threads, something that is unique to Intel and this new CPU is again have 8MB of Intel smart cache.
This CPU supports Intel turbo boost technology and dual channel DDR3 memory, which clearly means that it will be a bit underspeced compared to Bloomfield. Bloomfield has a three way DDR3 memory controller.
